If the kitchen is the heart of the home, why not make it absolutely breathtaking? That was our mindset for a dreamy Encinitas kitchen makeover for our cool bachelor client, and let’s just say—we went all in. We pulled out all the stops to create a space that’s not just stunning but also deeply personal, functional, and filled with thoughtful details that make everyday moments feel special.

Function First, Always
Let’s be real—no matter how gorgeous a kitchen is, if it doesn’t function well, it’s a fail. That’s why we designed this space around how it would actually be used. First up: a double-sized island. Not only does it make a major design statement, but it also offers tons of workspace, a dining area, and room to entertain. To keep the space feeling sleek and uncluttered, we went big on storage—floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and hidden storage under the island ensure everything has a place.

Statement Slab
For the countertops and backsplash, we wanted something bold yet organic, so we chose a striking quartzite slab with tones of sage, slate, ochre, and rose. To enhance its natural beauty, we had it “leathered,” which gives it a soft texture and a matte finish (trust us, it’s even more stunning in person). We loved it so much, we carried it up the backsplash and even used it for open shelving—because when you find a material this good, you let it shine.

Bold, Unexpected Details
We didn’t stop at the counters—one of our favorite design risks was crafting the kitchen sink from the same quartzite slab. It’s a total showstopper, bringing an earthy, sculptural vibe that feels both luxe and effortless. Fluted wall panelling runs across the range wall, covering the hood and adding tonal dimension and texture. To balance the organic elements, we kept the hardware and lighting sleek and minimal, letting the materials be the star of the show.

Jewelry for Your Kitchen
They say hardware and lighting are like jewelry for your home, and we fully embraced that philosophy. We went with matte black hardware with a cool knurling detail and brass accents for a little contrast and warmth. For lighting, we opted for grey concrete flush mounts—giving the space a subtle, masculine edge while keeping it modern and refined.

Sip, Sip, Hooray! The Hidden Bar Moment 🍸🍷
Last but definitely not least—one of our favorite hidden gems in this kitchen? A secret bar cabinet! Tucked behind sleek paneling, it opens up to reveal a built-in wine rack, a mini fridge, and a mirrored backsplash that adds just the right amount of swank. It’s the perfect mix of practical and fun—a little surprise that makes entertaining even better.

At the end of the day, it’s all about the details. This kitchen came together so beautifully because every design choice was made with the homeowner’s lifestyle in mind. The key? Choosing elements that not only look amazing but also fit the way you cook, live, and gather.
